Tennessee Real Estate Course:
Basic Principle Review 12-Hour Continuing Education Course

This intensive 12 hour review is intended to enhance the 60-hour Pre-Licensing
Course that the student has already completed. Students will learn to apply the
basic real estate principles to everyday real estate life.
Who should take this class?
- ASI Test Candidates - Our multi-testing approach will help to
reinforce the basic principle material you have already studied.
- New Licensees - This course is designed to help you achieve a better
understanding of those rudimentary real estate issues which were taught in your
fundamentals course.
- Seasoned Realtors - This class is being offered to bring you back to
the foundations of your industry. Many working real estate professionals today
did not have a Comprehensive Fundamentals of Real Estate Course when they
qualified for a real estate license. Our industry is ever changing and this
review will reintroduce those basic real estate principles that are the
building blocks of the business.
Description:
Thorough review of the Basic Principles of Real Estate. Discussion of state law
includes information on the Tennessee Real Estate Brokers License Act of 1973 and
information on the regulations of the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. Students
are given a handout which may be used with their own Tennessee Real Estate
Commission Manual.
TN Real Estate Course Contents:
Students will review terms, formulas and laws that are essential to providing
educated, competent, and professional real estate services to the public.
Tennessee state law regarding licensing and regulation will be included in the
study. At the end of this course, students will have a better understanding or the
knowledge, skills and tasks which are required by their chosen profession.
- Real Estate Mathematics and Formulas
- Understanding Agency Law
- Contract Law: Terminology, Addendums and Amendments
- Appraisal concepts and vocabulary: DUST, Depreciation, Methods
- Closing the Real Estate Transaction
- Ethics Laws, Practices and Fair Housing
- Interests, Estates and Ownership Rights
- Real Estate Finance, Investments and Taxation
- Tennessee Regulations
TN Real Estate License Educational Credit:
This course has been approved by the Tennessee Real Estate Commission for 12 hours
of Continuing Education Credit. 100% attendance and a 70% test score are
required for credit.
This course is also approved to fulfill the 12 hour requirement for students who
have not successfully passed the Affiliate Broker or Broker exams after three
attempts. The 12 hours must be completed before applicant may request re-testing.
100% attendance and a test score of at least 70% are required to receive credit.
Text Book and Study Material
Students will receive the Modern Real Estate Practice Study Guide. This
will be used to guide our discussions, to review definitions and to guide multi-testing.
Students will also receive study guidelines which will serve as a supplement
to the Official Manual of the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. The
Tennessee Manual is available for purchase for those students who have misplaced
their copy. The cost for the manual is $5.00.
Memphis School Class Schedule:
Typically this course lasts for two days with an option for morning or afternoon hours.
