Real Estate License Requirements
- Must be at least 19 years old.
- Must be a US citizen, permanent resident alien, or legally present in the US. Must provide proof of residency.
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
- Have not been convicted of a felony or crime involving moral turpitude.
- Successfully complete sixty (60) classroom hours of pre-licensing real estate education.
- Pass the licensure examination.
- Submit proper forms and fees to the Alabama Real Estate Commission.
- Complete the 20-hour post-licensing class and pass a proctored exam.

Broker License Requirements
- At least 18 years old.
- US citizen or legal resident. Must also show proof of residency.
- Show proof of high school graduation or completion of GED.
- Have not been convicted of a felony or crime involving moral turpitude.
- Successfully complete the 60-hour broker pre-licensing class.
- Has held an active real estate license for at least 24 months in the last 36 months.
- Pass the state exam.
- Submit proper forms and fees to the Alabama Real Estate Commission.

Continuing Education Requirements
Every licensee must complete 15 hours of continuing education by September 30th on even number years. This must include 3 hours of Risk Management Level 1: Avoiding Violations and 3 hours of Risk Management Level 2. Brokers must take the version for brokers. The other 9 hours may be in any other course approved by the state.
